🌿 Panchakarma at Vedsuman Ayurveda

Panchakarmas are five therapeutic procedures which helps to eliminate the toxins accumulated in the body. These five procedures are carried out in three sequential steps named as Purva KarmaPradhan Karma and Pashchat Karma (meaning preliminary procedures, primary procedures and follow up procedures).

Panchakarma is a cornerstone of Ayurvedic healing. These procedures systematically eliminate accumulated toxins (Ama), balance the doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), and strengthen the body’s natural immunity.

      PachanSnehan and Swedan are enumerated as Purva Karmas. The five evacuation procedures named VamanVirechanBastiNasya and Raktamokshana are reffered as Pradhan Karmas. After Pradhan Karmas it is required to restore the physical strength as well as optimum functionality of gastrointestinal tract. So the follow ups of the clients in regards to dietary and behavioral regimen is termed as Pashchat Karma.

1. Pachana: The Pachana Upakrama is the oral administration of the medicines in the form of powders, tablets or decoction to enhance the digestive power that renders to pakva state of Morbid Dosha, so that later it may be expelled easily by the different Shodhana procedures.

2. Snehana: Imparting greasiness to the body by the administration of fat substances either through the internal route or external route is referred by the name Snehana ChikitsaSnehana helps in the mobilization of the Dosha from the site of morbidity to the site of elimination.

3. Swedana: Induction of perspiration by different methods of applying heat to the body is the Swedana procedure. This procedure also helps in the mobilization of Dosha into the gastrointestinal tract where from it is eliminated by Shodhana procedures.

4. Vamana: Induction of vomiting for expelling the Dosha accumulated in gastrium by oral administration of emetics is the procedure of Vamana.

5. Virechana: Expelling the morbid accumulation of Dosha from the intestines by way of inducing purgative is the Virechana Karma.

6. Basti: Insertion of medicines through anal route for recovering the deficiencies in body (nutrition) and Expelling the morbid Dosha from the colon by administrating the evacuative enema is the procedure of Basti Karma.

7. Nasya: Insertion of medicines through nasal route for treating the diseases related to head and cleansing the head from any morbid Dosha is the procedure of Nasya Karma.

8. Raktamokshana: Blood letting out by different techniques for therapeutic purpose at a specific place is known as Raktamokshana.

Panchkarma Treatments
